Saharan Dust Next Week [ Local Stories]

Low chance tropical development over next 5 days. Non-tropical low 50 miles East of Wilmington, NC is moving North and will move inland over NC tonight. It is causing heaving rain over NC.

There is a tropical wave east of Trinidad and Tobago moving West. 10% chance tropical development. Upper level winds are not really conducive for development.

Saharan dust is moving into the Atlantic, will cross the Atlantic and move into the Gulf next week. We do like Saharan Dust in the tropical Atlantic. It is a warm dry layer. Tropical systems like moist rising air over warm water. The Saharan Dust will move our way Wednesday or Thursday and will linger. The dust makes for incredible sunrises and sunsets. It is also an issue for people who have breathing problems. Air quality alerts may be issued Thursday. This will be something to monitor.
