We are watching the tropics. There is a 90% chance tropical development for a tropical wave in the East Caribbean. it is definitely getting organized and will likely be a depression this weekend. It is moving over very warm water around 90 degrees. The GFS model shows a tropical storm is likely to form and approach Honduras and Nicaragua. It then meanders and begins to move towards Cuba and South Florida. The Euro Model takes it across Honduras and Nicaragua to the Pacific, but leaves a weakness in the Caribbean. Eta will be the 28th storm of the season, and will then tie the record 2005 Hurricane Season.
Weather cooperates for Halloween. Temperatures will drop into the low 60s. It's a Full Hunter's Moon. It is also the 2nd full moon of the month, and that means it is a Blue Moon. No. It is not the color blue.
Another cold front moves through Sunday morning. Sunny skies are forecast. Highs will be near 70 to the low 70s. The wind will increase. Small craft advisories by Sunday night. Cooler for Monday morning with lows dropping back into the 40s and 50s. We say goodbye to Daylight Saving Time early Sunday morning. That means you get an extra hour of sleep.
We continue to watch the tropics with the potential for tropical development this weekend in the Caribbean. A tropical wave is moving West over the Caribbean. It is moving over warm water with water temps of 90. It's name should it become a storm will be Eta. Should it develop, it will tie the 2005 hurricane season.

The supply of cool fall air will be conducive for clean-up, assessment, and restoration efforts today and through the weekend.
We've got a great weekend ahead with a reinforcing cold front moving through Sunday. The highlight of the weekend besides a Halloween Forecast that is a treat, is the Blue Moon! We have the 2nd full moon of the Month, which is called the Blue Moon. Kind of cool to have a full moon on Halloween too.
The good news is that the weather will be pleasant with no rain forecast for everyone who has to clean up after Zeta. For once after tropical weather we do not have very hot and humid weather which makes it easier to work outside.
The Sunday cold front is a dry one. It will send in cooler weather again for Monday with lows in the 40s and 50s. Sunny skies forecast for Election Day with lows in the 40s and 50s and highs near 70 to the low 70s.
We are watching the tropics. There is the potential for a depression to form in the next few days in the West Caribbean. Right now it appears that it will move west, and not impact the Gulf of Mexico.

What a difference a day makes. Zeta Wednesday. Cold front Thursday morning. I do not remember ever having cool weather after a Hurricane. It is always very hot and humid. The morning cold front caused afternoon temperatures in the upper 60s with low humidity and a bit of a breeze. It was perfect weather to get out and clean up after Zeta. There is more great weather to come into the weekend and next week. Another reinforcing cold front will move Sunday. No rain forecast anytime soon.
Halloween weather is a treat with mostly clear skies and cool temps falling into the upper 50s and low 60s. Skies cooperate to see the Full Blue Moon. It is the 2nd full moon of the Month, and that is why it is called the Blue Moon. It is not actually blue. Moonrise is at 6:33 pm.

16 of the best non po’ boy sandwiches in New Orleans
Not for nothing, but not all sandwiches are po’boys. Yes, that New Orleans’s official way to eat everything on a hunk of French bread, but sandwiches other than have a rich and delicious history. Named for the 4th Earl of Sandwich in the late 1700s, seems this particular British aristocrat loved to gamble so much he wouldn’t stop to eat. So his valet packed him a — you guessed it — slab of meat between two pieces of bread, a portable meal called the sandwich. In New Orleans, we have plenty of good, even great renditions. Try one, try them all and as always, send a note if we left out one of your favorites.

Zeta is bigger. Hurricane force winds extend out 45 miles from the center, and tropical force winds extend out 140 miles from the center.
Zeta's forecast track has shifted a little more to the East. We are still in the cone. The cone shows where the center goes 2/3 of the time, and 1/3 of the time the center is out of the cone. Zeta is much larger than the cone, so impacts are felt well outside of the cone. The worst weather is at landfall, and to the East of landfall. Storm surge and tornadoes are higher on the East side. Storm surge watch posted Intracoastal City to Navarre, Florida. 2-4 foot surge forecast for area lakes. From Port Fourchon to Dauphin Island, there is a 4-6 foot storm surge forecast. Rainfall of 2-6 inches is possible along the track. The Euro model is a little lower on rainfall. Hurricane watch is posted from Morgan City to the Mississippi Alabama border. Tropical force winds look to develop along the coast Wednesday afternoon with hurricane force wind gusts possible Wednesday night into early Thursday. Power outages are likely.

The owners of the Igor’s dive bars have bought the building and will reopen it as Ms. Mae’s
When word spread that Ms. Mae’s Magazine Street building was for sale, the dive bar’s many loyal patrons feared it would meet the same fate as Johnny White’s, Lost Love Lounge, and other New Orleans institutions the city has lost so far this year. Today, the owners of the Igor’s dive bar empire confirmed they purchased the building, and that it will remain Ms. Mae’s The Club when it reopens.
“We are looking forward to getting it back open as soon as it’s safe to do so,” Susan Brooks told Eater Thursday. Brooks’ company owns a handful of other much-loved dives in the city, including Igor’s Lounge & Game Room on St. Charles Avenue, founded in 1974 by Igor Margan, and featuring a laundromat. Margan went on to open Igor’s Check Point Charlie on Esplanade Avenue, Lucky’s Bar, also on St. Charles Avenue, and Igor’s Buddha Belly on Magazine Street, all with a similar bent — open 24/7 and offering pool tables, solid bar food, and yes, washing machines. Margan died in 2018 at age 71, but Brooks kept all four spots going after his death.
Ms. Mae’s has long been known for its 24/7 hours, having “the cheapest drinks in town,” loud heavy metal on the jukebox, an ever-interesting clientele, and a colorful history. Its familiar neighborhood vibe can be attributed to late, former owner Florence Bingham, better known as Ms. Mae; she was quick to reopen in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, further endearing the bar to the community.
Brooks told Eater she expects to reopen Ms. Mae’s in New Orleans’s phase 3.3.
