Some patchy fog possible [ Local Stories]

It was basically dry for 14 days, and then 3.68" of rain fell in a couple of hours at the Airport. In fact 3.19" fell in an hour! No wonder we had street flooding. We will have some more showers around Thanksgiving, but not expecting what we had today. Another cold front approaches the area Friday with an increase in rain and storms. There is a marginal risk severe storms for portions of the Northshore. A warm front moves out of the Gulf Saturday with an increase in rain chances. A strong cold front and low pressure move across the area Sunday with another round of rain possible. Then things dry out for Monday and temperatures drop. The wind is also going to blow Sunday and Monday! There is the potential for some freezing temperatures on the Northshore Tuesday. You may need to protect tender vegetation, pets and people!

We are not done with the rain [ Local Stories]

Lots of moisture will evaporate into the air overnight. We will have a light wind. There is the real potential for some dense fog overnight. A weak cold front will stall in the area, and then move North Thanksgiving. That means a warm and humid Thanksgiving with highs in the mid to upper 70s. Be aware of the potential for some showers and even a thunderstorm. Another cold front approaches Friday with rain chances again. It will be a little cooler Saturday. A warm front and area of low pressure move our way from the Gulf. Rain chances increase again for Sunday. It turns colder and windy Sunday. It will be much colder Monday and Tuesday. There is even the potential for freezing temperatures Tuesday on the Northshore. Stay weather aware. You may need to protect tender vegetation, pets and people!

Stronger cold front Sunday [ Local Stories]

It's been 14 days since we had .01" of an inch of rain. Finally, rain chances are going up. There is the potential to get locally heavy rain Wednesday and over the Weekend. One cold front moves our way Wednesday and stalls. it then moves back to the North as a warm front Thursday. Some showers are possible Thursday with highs in the mid to upper 70s. Another cold front approaches Friday with rain chances increasing especially to our North. Low pressure forms in the Gulf along the old boundary, and moves across our area Sunday with the potential for some stronger storms and locally heavy rain. Strong high pressure builds in with windy conditions Sunday and Monday. Temperatures will drop Sunday night into Monday. Highs Monday will only be in the mid 50s. It is possible parts of the Northshore may have their first freeze Tuesday morning. That means protect plants, pets and people!

Severe weather risk [ Local Stories]

A cold front approaches Wednesday with scattered rain and storms and a low end risk for severe storms for the North portion of the Northshore mainly in the afternoon. The main concern is damaging winds in storms. That front will get into the area Thanksgiving Day, and then stall. One model has it stalling South of us. If that were to happen, it would be a little cooler. I see it getting South of Metro, then moving back North quickly as a warm front. Temperatures look to be in the 70s with showers around. Another area of low pressure develops to our West Friday with rain chances increasing again. Looks like areas North of our viewing area will have locally heavy rain. That rain will drop into our area. Expect off and on rain into Sunday until a very strong cold front moves through our area. There will be the potential for some strong possibly severe storms. Much colder weather moves into the area Monday and Tuesday. There will be the potential for the first freeze of the Season in parts of our viewing area Tuesday morning.

Increasing rain Wednesday [ Local Stories]

Cold front approaches Wednesday with an increase in rain chances. It will be a little warmer with highs in the upper 70s to near 80. You will notice the humidity increasing too. The cold front will stall near the coast for Thanksgiving. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s with the chance for a few showers. Another system develops out West and begins to move our way Friday with some rain chances, but the better chance will be to our North. Rain chances increase Saturday and Sunday as a front approaches. it looks to finally move through for Monday with cooler drier air moving into the area. Heads up. The European model does keep rain chances in our area even Monday.

Coastal Flood Advisory [ Local Stories]

Coastal flood advisory through Sunday at Noon. Persistent onshore flow will cause water to rise on East facing shorelines. Minor water rise is mainly expected during high tide. High tides are in the morning hours. Exercise Caution along the Coast with wind E 15-20 knots.

A weak cold front will move into the area and stall Monday. Rain chances increase again Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of a cold front. We need the rain. We have only had .39" this month. There is a slight shower chance each day through the weekend, but mainly along the coast. The cold front looks to move through and give us improving weather for Thanksgiving. Lows will be in the 50s and highs will be near 70 to the low 70s.

Low rain chances [ Local Stories]

It's really dry. We could use some rain. Right now rainfall is about 2.20" below average for the month. We have a slight rain chance going into the weekend. A weak cold front gets into the area Monday with a slight rain chance. it looks to stall along the coast. Another surge of cool air looks to move through Wednesday with some rain. The Euro stalls that front along the coast, but we still end up with a pretty nice Thanksgiving. Highs in the low 70s with a slight rain chance along the coast. The GFS Model also has a front moving through Wednesday with rain chances, but that front moves offshore more. That means a sunny day for Thanksgiving with highs low 70s. Will keep you posted.

Expect a gradual warm up into the Weekend. Highs will climb into the upper 70s with a slight rain chance. You will notice humidity beginning to increase. A weak cold front gets into the area Monday, but does not bring us much of a cool down. Looks to stall along the coast.

Leonid Meteor Shower [ Local Stories]

Hurricane Iota makes landfall at 9:45 pm with 155 mph winds in NE Nicaragua. Landfall was about 30 miles South of Puerto Cabezas or 15 miles South of where Hurricane Eta made landfall November 3rd with 140 mph winds. Iota even went over part of the same path that Eta took before landfall.

Iota is the strongest hurricane of the 2020 season. Winds were as high as 160 mph. It is also the latest Cat 5 on record. The previous record was the November 8, 1932 Cuba Hurricane. That hurricane at one point had 175 mph winds, but made landfall in Cuba with 140 mph winds.

Iota is forecast to cause 10-30 inches of rain. The storm surge of 15-20 feet. It will diminish quickly as it moves across Central America, but cause major flooding.

The Leonid Meteor Shower takes place overnight. The best time to view is early morning before sunrise. There is the potential for 10-15 meteors an hour. It's going to be chilly, so definitely jacket weather. Get away from City Lights, get comfortable and look up!
