Fashion Rocks New Orleans - Celebrating Fashion for a Purpose | fashionrocksneworleans.com
Friday, November 6, 2009Fashion Rocks in New Orleans is a production presented by Wendy Wiltz, a native of New Orleans and familiar face of the entertainment industry. Wendy is most recognized for her appearance on the CW’s (formerly UPN) hit series“America’s Next Top Model”. Having over 10 years of experience in the entertainment industry and a true love for both fashion and her hometown New Orleans, Wendy wanted to create an event to bring the two together. Fashion Rocks is a multi-part event which features a live performance, silent auction, and fashion show followed by a mixer. Inspired by her own and a friend’s commitment to youth and our community, she developed the idea to donate a percentage of proceeds to Deuce McAllister’s Catch 22 Foundation. Holding the event at this time of year allows for the events’ proceeds to provide under-privileged youth with a Christmas, whom normally may not have such an opportunity. By popular demand, and with her own foundation currently in the works, Wendy holds the event annually. This year Fashion Rocks New Orleans is proving that New Orleans does not only receive, but gives back as well, by making a donation to The Refuge Center for Counseling located in Nashville, TN. The refuge Center for Counseling provides affordable therapy to women whom have been victims of domestic abuse. On behalf of Fashion Rocks New Orleans, Cache (a fashion show participant) is donating $3,500 worth of clothing to The Refuge Center. Wendy recently coordinated a Fashion Show for the Dress For Success Organization's Savoir Faire Event Hosted by Kim Kardashian.
