Pipeline explodes in Marrero neighborhood | WAFB

No one was reported injured in the blast around 10:25 a.m. Firefighters from the Marrero-Ragusa and Marrero-Harvey volunteer fire departments were battling the blaze. The incident happened about 30 yards from the $22 million St. Bahkita Apartments, which opened in April.

Firefighters say an explosion tore through the Abita Brewery near Abita Springs when a tank became over pressurized. Prior to the blast, Capt. Matt Huddleston, with St. Tammany Parish’s 12th Fire Protection District, said brewery crews were cleaning a large tank, a process that includes pressurizing the tank with carbon dioxide. A large marsh fire in Bayou Bienvenue, about 1,000 yards west of Paris Road and the Intercoastal Waterway burned on Tuesday afternoon. According to the New Orleans Fire Department, the blaze is in an area that's inaccessible to NOFD equipment and are efforting to have the U.S. Coast Guard examine the blaze from the air. READ STORY
