Coast Guard Rescues Two From Storm-Damaged Rig south of New Orleans | WSJ.com

Two Chevron Corp. employees were rescued from an offshore oil platform 80 miles south of New Orleans on Monday after the facility was damaged because of Hurricane Ida, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

A walkway that connects crew members' living area to the rest of the platform was damaged by a wayward lift boat, stranding the two men, O'Berry said. A video shot by the Coast Guard shows rescuers hoisting the men into a helicopter in 28 mile-per-hour winds and choppy waters.

Tropical Storm IDA Public Advisory

At 9 AM CST...1500 UTC...all hurricane warnings and watches along the Gulf Coast have been discontinued. A tropical storm warning is now in effect from Grand Isle Louisiana eastward to the Aucilla River Florida... including New Orleans and Lake Pontchartrain.

A tropical storm warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area within 24 hours.

Ida reaches hurricane force near Nicaragua | wwltv.com | News

Ida has reached hurricane force as it nears Nicaragua's mainland. The National Weather Service said Thursday morning that a hurricane warning was issued for the east coast of Nicaragua from Bluefields to Puerto Cabezas. Hurricane force winds are expected during the next several hours.

Cargo ship leaks oil in Gulf of Mexico | UPI.com

A hole in the hull of a cargo ship near the Mississippi River near Louisiana caused a 12,000-gallon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

Divers inspected the hull were waiting Saturday for parts for plugging the hole to arrive, the Coast Guard said.
