For weeks, Gov. Bobby Jindal, R-La., has attacked BP and the Coast Guard for not having adequate plans and resources to battle the oil spill.

But interviews with more than two dozen state and federal officials and experts suggest that Louisiana, from the earliest days of the spill in the Gulf of Mexico, has often disregarded its own long-standing plans and experts in favor of large-scale proposals that many say probably would have had limited effectiveness and could have even hampered the response.

"New Orleans" Norovirus hits Louisiana | WAFB

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has determined that recently tested samples submitted by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals contain a new strain of norovirus, health officials announced Thursday.

The CDC name for the new strain, GII.4 New Orleans, includes "New Orleans" in the name because the first confirmed samples came from the Crescent City.

I left the State Park Campground and headed east on U. S. Highway 90 Business, crossing the Mississippi River at New Orleans. About 5 miles later I picked up Interstate 10 heading east (not wanting to drive on U.S. Highway 90 in heavy New Orleans traffic) and about 6 miles later got on U.S. Highway 90 heading east.
