Mid-City teaching hospital plans boosted by Charity Hospital arbitration ruling | NOLA.com

A federal arbitration panel awarded Louisiana $475 million Wednesday for hurricane-related damage to Charity Hospital

The $475 million brings the state more than halfway to the financing it needs for building a new hospital on a lower Mid-City tract bordered by South Claiborne Avenue, Canal Street, Galvez Street and Tulane Avenue.

Lafitte Corridor Greenway Tour shows what could be - NOLA.com

The 200 people who showed up for Saturday's walking tour of the Lafitte Corridor Greenway came from all over town, a few with dogs and children in tow. They were old and young, rail-thin and round, wearing T-shirts, jeans and sundresses.

The city is in the final stages of negotiating a design and construction contract for the greenway with Design Workshop of Austin, Texas, said Bart Everson, a board member of Friends of Lafitte Corridor, a nonprofit group that has been pushing for the greenway since 2006.

Golf complex in City Park approved | News for New Orleans, Louisiana | Sports | News and Weather for New Orleans | wwltv.com

New Orleans City Park Future To Be Decided Tuesday - WDSU

Changes could be coming to City Park and the future of the 1,300 acre park is in the balance.

City leaders said the big question is whether the park should be turned into a golf course or made into a green space.

The decision on a $45 million development proposal will be made Tuesday.
